Golden Day For French RS:X Racers - Latest news: "Picon had sealed Women’s RS:X gold overnight whilst Bontemps had a comfortable lead in the men’s and needed a solid race to seal the deal. With tough sailing conditions on the Duna Course that saw winds gust up to 25 knots there was plenty of shuffles in the pack as the action played out in front of a capacity crowd and a worldwide TV audience. Przemyslaw Miarczynski (POL) took silver and Thomas Goyard (FRA) took bronze in the men’s fleet. The home crowd had something to cheer about in the women’s division as Spain’s Marina Alabau sealed silver ahead of Maayan Davidovich (ISR)."

Andrew Simpson, a two-time Olympic gold medalist for Britain, died Thursday in an America's Cup training accident while sailing on San Francisco Bay. The Artemis racing team of Sweden said on its website that Simpson was trapped under the boat after it capsized. All other crew members were rescued. The Coast Guard said there were 11 other crew members, while the Artemis release said Simpson was part of an 11-man crew aboard the catamaran. (Source: Bloomberg)
