The World Sailing Show gets aboard Phil Sharp and Pablo Santurde’ s Class 40 Imerys for a full-on, double handed 4,000 mile sleigh ride south to see how the pair took the coveted overall season title.

Also heading south, the Volvo Ocean Race fleet descended on Cape Town. With 7,000 miles under their belts, stomachs were starting to churn among the crew at the thought of the next 6,500 across the notorious Southern Ocean – they tell the World Sailing Show why.

What will make the new America’s Cup boat be so quick? Cup guru Grant Simmer explains in an exclusive interview.

We take a look at two major new world records set at very different ends of the scale. We also find out how to compete in a world championships without getting your feet wet.

Back to School with US Sailing's Reach for STEM Education - Many people don't realize that ocean currents not only transport fish, nutrients, heat and other important natural phenomena around the planet, but they also circulate our trash! Yep, that water bottle that fell out of your boat when you capsized is halfway to Tahiti by now! Understanding how currents work, including how to measure them using drifters, allows scientists to better predict ocean circulation. In this video by Waterlust​ outlines a simple experiment you can do to measure the currents at your home.

New Framework Agreement Creates Strong Future For The America’s Cup:

This unprecedented agreement lays out a framework for the cycle of events, and the type of boats that will be used, allowing fans teams and commercial partners to plan for the future.

New framework for America's Cup | RoyalGazette.com: "During a press conference at The House of Garrard in London, United Kingdom where the America’s Cup trophy was originally crafted in 1848, skippers and team leaders revealed a framework agreement that would cover the next two editions, the 36th and 37th America’s Cup, due to take place in 2019 and 2021 respectively. Racing in the 35th America’s Cup will take place in Bermuda in May/June of this year and the 36th America’s Cup cycle will commence thereafter. “Today we can announce that a new framework agreement has been created, determining the format of the next two America’s Cup cycles, its protocols and its class rules,” announced Martin Whitmarsh, the CEO of Land Rover BAR, a challenger for the 35th America’s Cup ..." read more at link above.
