The Foiling Tack Explained, Flying the Course, Sailing Videos

SoftBank Team Japan: The Foiling Tack Explained:

“We know now that it’s achievable and it's a real game changer”, said Skipper and CEO Dean Barker. “We think most of the teams know we did it so the race is on now. The trick with the foil gybe was learning the different settings and techniques for different wind conditions and that’s going to be the same with the tacking.” Published Aug 25, 2016

Flying the course a game changer:

Now it can be told! The foiling tack is a game-changer. SoftBank Team Japan and then ORACLE TEAM USA, started foil-tacking upwind back in April. Earlier this summer, ORACLE TEAM USA, added the move to its repertoire when sailing in full manual-mode, and now the race is on to get around the race course without coming down off the foils. Published Aug 26, 2016
