Day 4 GC32 Oman Cup - Clean Sweep for Alinghi
Nov 9: In yet another flawless display by the world’s top catamaran sailing team, Alinghi today won the GC32 Oman Cup and the 2019 GC32 Racing Tour. This Ernesto Bertarelli’s Swiss team adds to their GC32 World Championship title and victory in their own domestic D35 catamaran circuit. Coming into the 2019 GC32 Racing Tour’s final event, Alinghi was tied on points with the Adam Minoprio-skippered Oman Air. This made for a simple battle: Whichever team won here in Oman would claim the 2019 GC32 Racing Tour. Ultimately Alinghi never missed a beat, leading from the outset, although surprisingly her main competition here was Erik Maris’ Zoulou.
Day 3 GC32 Oman Cup
Nov 8: While it may have been their turn to be top scoring boat on day three of the GC32 Oman Cup, the math is not looking great for Oman Air in their fight with Alinghi to become 2019 GC32 Racing Tour champions. Going into the final day tomorrow, the team that comes out on top will win the big prize. Currently the local heroes, led by Adam Minoprio, are 10 points adrift of the formidable Swiss with potentially five races still to sail tomorrow and with the fleet down to five now following Argo’s untimely breakage yesterday. See alsoDay 2 and Day 1 videos.
GC32 Oman Cup Day 2, Nov 7: Undisputed winner of the day was Zoulou, which, with French ace Gurvan Bontemps standing in on the helm for owner-driver Erik Maris (who arrives tonight and will take over tomorrow), put in a 1-2-2-2-1 scoreline, that was impressively consistent given the sea state and gusty conditions.
GC32 Oman Cup Day 1 - Alinghi on winning formNov 6, 2 019: with a light forecast, the opening day of the GC32 Oman Cup looked like it might be marginal. However in the end four out of five of the scheduled races were sailed just north of the Al Mouj marina with a challenging set of wind conditions at times enabling the GC32s to fly fully, sometimes to hull fly only and at other times leaving the ultra-high performance catamarans with both hulls firmly ‘low-‘riding in displacement mode.

GC32 Oman Cup November 5-9, 2019 (Nov 5 practice race day): Oman is host of the final and deciding event of the 2019 GC32 Racing Tour, and the Oman Air team well placed to secure the overall Tour title on home waters. Muscat extends a warm welcome to the fleet of high-performance foiling catamarans as they race for the Oman Cup. The teams are based in and racing on the open waters off Al Mouj Marina in the heart of the city.
Overall Rank, Team, Total Points, prior to Oman Cup:
1 Alinghi 6
2 Oman Air 6
3 Red Bull Sailing Team 13
4 Zoulou 17
5 Argo 20
6 Black Star Sailing Team 23
Day 4 Highlights GC32 Riva Cup - Alinghi claims GC32 Riva Cup by a whisker
Sep 15: While Alinghi has led at the end of every day of racing at the 2019 GC32 Riva Cup, the Swiss team was on the ropes this afternoon when their arch-rivals Oman Air, in seemingly unbeatable form, scored three back-to-back wins levelling the scoreline with them. Find out how the Swiss team sealed the deal in the final race of the day.
Day 3 Highlights GC32 Riva Cup - Alinghi clings on to narrow lead going into GC32 Riva Cup finale:
GC32 Racing Tour Sep 14, 2019: Both Alinghi and Oman Air had difficult moments. The Swiss GC32 World Champions were off form in today’s first two races, leaving them trailing Oman Air by two points. However showing their typical relentlessness, Alinghi won the next three races.
Day 2 GC32 Riva Cup - Oman Air fights back
Sep 13: Lago di Garda was not making it easy for race officials on day two of the GC32 Riva Cup, the penultimate event of the 2019 GC32 Racing Tour. The afternoon southerly Ora wind was late materialising and required three changes of race course and a frustrating two hour wait before the wind finally blasted in at 15+ knots some four kilometres south of Riva del Garda. After this three races with reaching starts were eventually held, the wind progressively dropping off as the afternoon wore on and holes in the race course began to appear close to the leeward gate and the boats were returned to the Fraglia Vela Riva marina. “Friday 13th” they muttered by way of explanation, but in Italy 13 is not unlucky.
Day 1 GC32 Riva Cup - Early lead for Alinghi at GC32 Riva Cup
Sep 12: In today’s five races, all held in the southerly Ora wind of 8 to 13 knots, the immaculate Swiss team never finished a race deeper than third and ended the day four points ahead of second-placed Red Bull Sailing Team.

GC32 Day 4 Copa del Rey MAPFRE - Oman Air match races to victory in Palma
Aug 3, 2019: Oman Air have won the 38 Copa del Rey MAPFRE, third event of the 2019 GC32 Racing Tour, after fending off a final day challenge from arch-rival Alinghi. After being soundly beaten by Ernesto Bertarelli’s Swiss team at the GC32 World Championship in June, this was a sweet return to form for Adam Minoprio and his crew. Next GC32 Racing Tour event at Lake Garda for the Riva Cup, 11-15 September 2019.
GC32 Day 3 Copa del Rey MAPFRE
Aug 2, 2019--Crossed swords between Oman and Switzerland--Some hair-raisingly close crosses between Oman Air and Alinghi summed up just how tight the battle for supremacy is between these two top-flight teams duelling each other at the 38 Copa del Rey MAPFRE, third event of the 2019 GC32 Racing Tour. Adam Minoprio might have again steered the Omani boat to three victories from five heats today, but Arnaud Psarofaghis notched up a cleaner set of results to close in on their rivals by a single point on the leaderboard.
GC32 Day 2 Copa del Rey MAPFRE
Aug 1, 2019--Oman Air flies past Alinghi in light airs of Palma--Adam Minoprio and his crew nailed some excellent reaching starts in the stronger winds of the first three races to score a hat trick of bullets in Palma. See also Day 1 Video Highlights July 31, 2019: Alinghi and Oman Air neck and neck after five full-on races: After a faltering start to day one of the 38 Copa del Rey MAPFRE, Alinghi turned on the afterburners to take the final two races of a full-on, five-heat afternoon in the latest round of the 2019 GC32 Racing Tour in Palma, Mallorca.

Day 3, June 29, Video Highlights - GC32 World Championship 2019
Fighting for the podium positions: Conditions took on a different turn for day three of the GC32 World Championship. While a brisk northwesterly was anticipated, the wind that blew for the majority of the day was southeasterly, backing into the east as the afternoon wore on. This became patchy during the third and what would become the final race of this penultimate day of competition. GC32 Racing Tour video above published Jun 29, 2019. Sunday, Day 4, will be the final day of racing.
Day 2 Highlights - GC32 World Championship 2019
GC32 Racing Tour video above published Jun 28, 2019: While four boats were separated by one point as day two dawned, now, at this half way stage of the event, two teams have edged ahead: Leader Alinghi and second placed Oman Air are now separated by just three points, six points ahead of INEOS Rebels UK in third.
Day 1 GC32 World Championship 2019, Lagos - Four leaders within one point
Day one of the GC32 World Championship, taking place with the support of the City of Lagos, Marina de Lagos and Sopromar, started in an uncharacteristic southwesterly, blowing across Lagos’ bay and at times gusting to 16-17 knots. Two races were held in this before the lighter prevailing northwesterly filled in, requiring a new race course to be set up and a change from upwind to reaching starts. While the top four teams came out close, all had deep results, the most polarised being those of Alinghi, which ended the day second but tied on points with the leader, Oman Air. GC32 Racing Tour video above published Jun 27, 2019.

The southern Portugal event will double as the second event on the Tour, and the third event will be 31 July-4 August, 38 Copa del Rey MAPFRE / Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
Racing off Lagos takes place on the Atlantic, but the waters are protected by Cape St Vincent, the southwestern tip of Europe, just 10 km away. With sea breeze conditions and flat water, the GC32 World Championship should offer perfect foiling conditions. Tweets by GC32RacingTour

Day 4 GC32 TPM Med Cup -Ainslie wins in Toulon, as Cammas wins GC32 title
GC32 Racing Tour video above published Oct 14, 2018: large seas rolling into the Rade de Toulon’s open southeasterly side prevented racing on the final day of the 2018 GC32 TPM Med Cup, last event of the GC32 Racing Tour. The eight foiling catamarans ventured out on to the race course ready for a midday start. While 18-20 knots of wind is usually sailable for GC32s, building waves effectively made it ‘survival conditions’. If racing had been held, boats and possibly crew would have been damaged, reasoned the race committee, who finally raised ‘AP over A’, signalling the abandonment of racing, at 1350. The GC32 TPM Med Cup is the final event of the GC32 Racing Tour 2018 season.

GC32 TPM Med Cup, Oct 10-14, Toulon, France
The GC32 Racing Tour 2018 concludes in the south of France, at Toulon, France’s third biggest Mediterranean port and capital of the Var department. Toulon is fast gaining notoriety in yacht racing circles having hosted the high profile French stop of the America’s Cup World Series in September 2016. Boat berthing and the race village are in the marina attached to the Yacht Club de Toulon. Racing will take place on the Rade de Toulon, with prevailing winds from the west. The bay is well protected with the potential for perfect GC32 foiling conditions: wind and flat water. Two top French teams are competing, both with crew from the French America’s Cup team.
