Day 4 GC32 Oman Cup - Clean Sweep for Alinghi
Nov 9: In yet another flawless display by the world’s top catamaran sailing team, Alinghi today won the GC32 Oman Cup and the 2019 GC32 Racing Tour. This Ernesto Bertarelli’s Swiss team adds to their GC32 World Championship title and victory in their own domestic D35 catamaran circuit. Coming into the 2019 GC32 Racing Tour’s final event, Alinghi was tied on points with the Adam Minoprio-skippered Oman Air. This made for a simple battle: Whichever team won here in Oman would claim the 2019 GC32 Racing Tour. Ultimately Alinghi never missed a beat, leading from the outset, although surprisingly her main competition here was Erik Maris’ Zoulou.
Day 3 GC32 Oman Cup
Nov 8: While it may have been their turn to be top scoring boat on day three of the GC32 Oman Cup, the math is not looking great for Oman Air in their fight with Alinghi to become 2019 GC32 Racing Tour champions. Going into the final day tomorrow, the team that comes out on top will win the big prize. Currently the local heroes, led by Adam Minoprio, are 10 points adrift of the formidable Swiss with potentially five races still to sail tomorrow and with the fleet down to five now following Argo’s untimely breakage yesterday. See alsoDay 2 and Day 1 videos.
GC32 Oman Cup Day 2, Nov 7: Undisputed winner of the day was Zoulou, which, with French ace Gurvan Bontemps standing in on the helm for owner-driver Erik Maris (who arrives tonight and will take over tomorrow), put in a 1-2-2-2-1 scoreline, that was impressively consistent given the sea state and gusty conditions.
GC32 Oman Cup Day 1 - Alinghi on winning formNov 6, 2 019: with a light forecast, the opening day of the GC32 Oman Cup looked like it might be marginal. However in the end four out of five of the scheduled races were sailed just north of the Al Mouj marina with a challenging set of wind conditions at times enabling the GC32s to fly fully, sometimes to hull fly only and at other times leaving the ultra-high performance catamarans with both hulls firmly ‘low-‘riding in displacement mode.

GC32 Oman Cup November 5-9, 2019 (Nov 5 practice race day): Oman is host of the final and deciding event of the 2019 GC32 Racing Tour, and the Oman Air team well placed to secure the overall Tour title on home waters. Muscat extends a warm welcome to the fleet of high-performance foiling catamarans as they race for the Oman Cup. The teams are based in and racing on the open waters off Al Mouj Marina in the heart of the city.

The Extreme Sailing Series™ heads to the Americas as the 2017 calendar is revealed: "The Extreme Sailing Series™, the world’s leading Stadium Racing series, will return to the Americas for the first time in six years in 2017 in what promises to be another action-packed season. After a hugely successful transition to foiling catamarans in 2016 - with the introduction of the super-fast and super-exciting GC32s – the Extreme Sailing Series is now adding two new venues to its roster for its 11th season. "Alongside existing host venues of Muscat, Qingdao, Madeira, Hamburg and Cardiff, the Series is now set to visit San Diego in California and Los Cabos in Mexico. Andy Tourell, Event Director of the Extreme Sailing Series, confirmed the new venues at a press conference hosted by the Pestana Hotel Group in Lisbon October 10, 2016. "“We are thrilled to be heading back to the United States and to Mexico for the first time after a long absence from the Americas,” said Tourell. “I have no doubt that both San Diego, which has a long sailing tradition, and Los Cabos – which is a great sailing destination in its own right - will quickly establish themselves as among the classic venues on our circuit. I am sure the locals in both venues will love the action-packed racing that makes the Extreme Sailing Series unique,” he added. In San Diego the Race Village and all the other elements of the Extreme Sailing Series set-up – including the VIP area and the pontoons - will be based at Harbor Island, and the racing action will take place just five metres from the shore. Joseph Terzi, President & CEO San Diego Tourism Authority commented: “On behalf of San Diego, and our thriving, distinguished sailing community, we welcome with open arms the 2017 Extreme Sailing Series to America’s Finest City ..."--ExtremeSailingSeries.com

Extreme Sailing Series™ 2016, Programme One, Muscat & Qingdao:
Highlights from Extreme Sailing Series, Acts 1 and 2. The curtain was officially raised for the 2016 Extreme Sailing Series™ in March, kicking off the season in style in the Sultanate of Oman. The season started with a stunning coastal race down to the historic old town of Muscat, which saw the new hydro-foiling GC32s race against the backdrop of the Al Alam Royal Castle in the Muttrah Port on the opening day. The fleet then took to the Omani Stadium for three action-packed days of racing, which saw the eight teams really get to grips with flying. Muscat proved the perfect debut for the Extreme Sailing Series to ‘fly’ into its 10th season.
Next stop for the eight-strong fleet was the Olympic Sailing City of Qingdao, China - a regular on the global Stadium Racing circuit. From the 29 April - 2 May Act 2 saw the fleet face the challenging, fickle conditions Qingdao threw at them, with the smallest of mistakes punished on this racecourse. The experienced rose to the top, and a final day showdown saw the eight GC32 hydro-foiling catamarans ‘fly’ on Fushan Bay. (Published May 20, 2016) Extreme Sailing Series 2016 Schedule:
