Americas Cup Winner Wary of Sir Robin In Sydney Hobart

Clipper Round the World Yacht Race video published Dec 4, 2017: Clipper Ventures will be proudly supporting the Invictus Games Sydney 2018 in the 73rd Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, with two Clipper 68s to be crewed by British and Australian veterans and personnel. Even though Sir Robin Knox-Johnston will be on board the UK Invictus Games Sydney 2018 GAME ON boat, two-time Americas Cup winner and Team Oracle Skipper James Spithill is still backing the Aussies.

In addition to the eleven Clipper 70s racing to Hobart as part of the 40,000 nautical mile Clipper 2017-18 Race, the two Clipper 68s will also take part in the iconic Bluewater Classic, starting on Boxing Day in Sydney. Invictus Games Sydney 2018 GAME ON (CV10) will be crewed by British wounded, injured and ill veterans, in addition to Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, and will take on the Australian crewed Invictus Games Sydney 2018 DOWN UNDER (CV5), in what’s tipped to be an ‘Ashes on the Water’.

The 2017 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race marks the 73rd edition of this time-honoured tradition. Over 100 yachts, including 30 overseas entries, are expected to cross the start line at 13:00 AEDT on 26 December 2017 (Dec 25th at 9pm EST in U.S.). Everything is in place for another exceptional chapter in the history of this classic race.

Video above published Jun 26, 2017: Artemis Racing skipper Nathan Outteridge speaks to the differences between '17' and 'Aotearoa', ORACLE TEAM USA and Emirates Team New Zealand's America's Cup Class yachts. Key differences include foil shape, control systems and the most obvious being the Kiwi's use of innovative pedal-powered bicycles rather than traditional pedestal grinders. These differences proved pivotal.

June 25, 2017 UPDATE:  Emirates Team NZ won both races Sunday, sailing faster and making fewer mistakes than its rival Oracle Team USA. Emirates Team New Zealand now leads 6-1 and only needs one more win on Monday to win the America's Cup!

24th June: Race Round-Up

Jun 24, 2017: The third day of the America's Cup Match presented by Louis Vuitton saw drama on the water. The Kiwi's took the first race, but ORACLE TEAM USA came charging back to win the second.

June 24, 2017: Emirates Team NZ leads 4-1 having won the first race Saturday, and losing to Oracle Team USA for the first time in the second race of the day. Racing will continue Sunday and go into Monday due to USA's win today.

Jun 10, 2017: Incredibly close racing between Artemis Racing and Emirates Team New Zealand on the first day of the Louis Vuitton America's Cup Challenger Playoffs Final in Bermuda. Advantage goes to the Kiwis, but if skipper Nathan Outteridge hadn't gone for a swim in the final race the outcome could have been very different.

Jun 9, 2017: There was only one race on the final day of the Louis Vuitton America's Cup Challenger Playoffs Semi-finals with Artemis Racing taking the win over SoftBank Team Japan. The two teams were so evenly matched that it made for a thrilling series, but it means the end of the road for SoftBank Team Japan. The Swedes will now advance to face Emirates Team New Zealand in the Louis Vuitton America's Cup Challenger Playoffs Semi-finals.

UPDATE June 8, 2017: Thursday Results below. Emirates Team New Zealand has won 5 points in its races against Land Rover BAR and advances to the Challenger finals which begin Saturday, June 10. Artemis Racing leads 4-3 over SoftBank Team Japan and will race again Friday to determine which will race against Emirates Team New Zealand in the Challenger Finals.
8th June: 35th America's Cup Race Round-Up

Published Thursday, June 8, 2017: Tough day for Ben Ainslie and Land Rover BAR, who, despite a remarkable win today, were knocked out of the Louis Vuitton America's Cup Challenger Playoffs Semi-finals by Emirates Team New Zealand. Meanwhile, the battle rages on between SoftBank Team Japan and Artemis Racing. Note June 7, 2017: Wednesday races were postponed to Thursday due to sea state and high winds.

Monday's (June 5, 2017) Results: Emirates Team New Zealand (NZ) won both races against Land Rover BAR (which retired from the first race and did not return for 2nd due to wing damage) and therefore NZ leads 2-0. SoftBank Team Japan and  Artemis Racing each won 1 race against each other and are tied 1-1.
