Video above published Jul 16, 2017: The spectacular J Class - Only 10 were ever built from just 20 designs and their reign lasted less than a decade. And when they rolled into Bermuda, the spectacle was unique.

With America's Cup Defender New Zealand's decision to return to monohulls for the next America's Cup, time for one last look at the foiling America's Cup catamarans:

Vendee Globe, Solo Non-Stop Round-The-World Race, Starts Nov 6

Vendée Globe 2016 Teaser Arnaud Boissières - La Mie Câline

Le teaser d'Arnaud Boissières à bord de La Mie Câline à 20 jours de son départ du Vendée Globe 2016 - Published Oct 18, 2016

The Vendee Globe is a non-stop single-handed round-the-world yacht race, sailed without assistance every four years - the next edition taking place in 2016/17 - starting November 6, 2016. There were few skippers willing to take up the challenge and cross the start line in the first edition to sail towards the unknown. Thanks to its extreme nature, the race has gradually become a major event in the maritime sailing world, inspiring respect to the point of becoming an epic competition and a unique reference for solo yachtsmen on monohulls.
Vendee Globe 2016 route
Facts:
Single-handed round the world race
Start: 6 November 2016 in Les Sables d'Olonne, France
Finish: Les Sables d'Olonne, France (ETA - 25 January 2017)
Official Event of the IMOCA Ocean Masters World Championship 2015-16
Coefficient: 10

The exceptional 2012-2013 edition pushed the boundaries of all records. Sporting records first as this 7th edition of the Vendee Globe saw the accolade of not only the youngest winner of the race, François Gabart, at 29 years of age, but also the fastest one (under the legendary mark of 80 days in his first ever attempt at the race!). The victory came after the most tightly fought duel in the race history and is now etched into global memory.

The Vendee Globe brings together people passionate about extraordinary human adventures and sporting endeavours. Come and visit this incredible event and follow the race news and skipper profiles on:
