Antigua Sailing Week 2019, 27 April to 3 May, LIVE Feed

Epic Highlights | Antigua Sailing Week 2019

An epic recap of the 52nd Antigua Sailing Week! Video published May 4, 2019.

KPMG Youth 2 Keelboat Race Day 4 | Antigua Sailing Week

Big breeze and huge Caribbean surf spiced up the action for KPMG Y2K (Youth to Keelboat) Race Day! Y2K is all about getting young Antiguan sailors into the yachting industry. Aptly two youth teams showed tremendous camaraderie and quick thinking in the face of adversity. KPMG was well represented at the daily prize giving by John Applegate, Lisa Brathwaite, Christopher Brome, Michael Edghill and Bertram Alexander. Today's winners were presented with celebratory bottles of champagne and all of the 40-strong young sailors racing at Antigua Sailing Week were invited onto the stage to much applause. Antiguan guitarist Joshu provided the sounds with a perfect acoustic set from the main stage.

Reggae in the Park Race Day | Antigua Sailing Week 2019

20 knots of trades powered up the action on Reggae in the Park Race Day at Antigua Sailing Week. Over a thousand people from 21 nations enjoyed the spectacular conditions on the south coast of Antigua. Two races were held for most classes – the CSA Racing Classes were launched today with a full on foam-up on the Windward Course. The Bareboat Classes and Club Class raced short, sharp, windward-leeward courses off Rendezvous Bay.

In three Bareboat Classes, 26 teams from Australia, Austria, France, Germany, Great Britain, Switzerland and the USA are competing at Antigua Sailing Week. Competition at the top is intense. After five races, Alexander Pfeiffer’s KH+P Bavastro is leading Bareboat 1 by a single point: “I have been coming to Antigua Sailing Week since 1992,” commented Alexander Pfeiffer. “I can only remember one race which had to be postponed due to lack of wind in all those years. The sailing conditions are so reliable here and the people are so friendly. We also race against people that we do not know, which is very interesting. Even my team has been put together just for the regatta. We will be enjoying Reggae in the Park tonight for sure because we are moored right next to the stage!”

In Bareboat 3, Hans Steidle’s KH+P Barbuda is leading the class, with Michael Cannon and Neil Harvey’s KHS&S Contractors from Florida, who have been the overall bareboat champions for the last two years, in second place. However, with a discard kicking in for the next race, there is virtually nothing between the two teams.

Hans Steidle has a young team who have sailed together on Lake Constance for many years: “We have grown up together racing Optimists, 420s, and now J/70s,” commented Matthias Steidle. “We are all in our 20s, but the youngest is Luitpold Lindner. This is our first time to Antigua and we are really loving the fantastic sailing conditions and the fun ashore. We will definitely be going to Reggae in the Park and tomorrow, we will take the opportunity to see more of Antigua with an island tour.”

In Bareboat 2, Peter Zauner’s Tintoret leads the class. The Bavarian team was runner-up last year and will be hoping for victory in the 52nd edition of Antigua Sailing Week. Tintoret is having a great battle with Jakob Oetiker’s Swiss team racing KH+P Botero and Nicholas Jordan’s Ananda.

Today it was the turn of the Double-Handed Class for some bay watching. Their courses included a downwind slide round to the west coast of Antigua and a blustery beat back to the finish. Philip Asche’s American Swan 44 Freebird won the race.

The Multihulls had a spectacular course southeast of Antigua, including a long beat east along the rugged coastline, followed by a succession of blast reaches in full offshore conditions. Robert Szustkowski’s HH66 R-SIX won the race. Antigua Sailing Week video above published Apr 30, 2019.

Fever-Tree Race Day | Antigua Sailing Week 2019

The second day of Antigua Sailing Week was Fever-Tree Race Day, with the impressive fleet mixing it up in gorgeous weather on the south, east and west coast of Antigua. The Bareboat fleet, Double-Handed and Club Class started off Windward Beach with fresh trade wind in the high teens. The six CSA racing classes raced off Rendezvous Beach on tight round the cans courses with more sheltered but gusty conditions in a packed out race area. The Multihulls course took the flyers down the west coast past some of the best beaches in Antigua.

In CSA 1, Sir Peter Harrison had a wonderful birthday. His magnificent British superyacht Sojana scored two bullets adding to their win on day one. Sojana is unbeaten so far at Antigua Sailing Week. “We are probably the most difficult boat to manoeuvre at the regatta. With so many boats around us on the Rendezvous Course it was terrifying just getting in a position to start. Throw in two races and its double the stress,” commented Sojana's navigator, Jonny Malbon. “It was a tricky day but also a really good one. We had five hoists and drops, endless tacks and gybes, with most of the moves just a few minutes apart. Getting it wrong on a boat like Sojana you will pay a very high tariff. The boss is super-pumped at getting two bullets on his birthday - the team did an awesome job today.”

In CSA 2, Ker 46 Lady Mariposa, skippered by Dane Jesper Bank won the first race, but a sixth in the last race has shortened their class lead to just one point. Sir Hugh Bailey's Antiguan team racing Farr 45 Rebel won the last race to move up to second in the class, ahead of Vittorio Biscarini's Italian Mylius 15E25 Ars Una, purely on countback.

Racing in CSA 3, Irishman Adrian Lee is enjoying his sixth Antigua Sailing Week. For this edition Adrian is at the helm of his Swan 60 Lee Overlay Partners II and leads the class after winning the last race today. After three races, Lee Overlay Partners II is tied on points with Mark Jagger's British CNB 60 Theia of London. Ondeck Antigua's Farr 65 Spirit of Juno retired from the last race, dropping to third for the class.

44Cup Porto Montenegro, 10-14 Apr 2019, LIVE Feed

Day 4 44Cup Porto Montenegro - Team CEEREF claims golden wheels in Montenegro

The Bay of Tivat came good for the final day of the 44Cup Porto Montenegro with three races held and a most worthy winner in Igor Lah’s Team CEEREF. The Slovenian team led this first event of the 2019 44 Cup from the outset. Today neither they nor Vladimir Prosikhin’s Team Nika won a race, but showed impeccable consistency, both enjoying a trio of podium place results, elevating Team Nika from fourth to second overall. Video above published Apr 13, 2019.

Day 3 44Cup Porto Montenegro - Team Nika wins penultimate day

44Cup video published Apr 12, 2019: Dramatic cloud formations over the mountains surrounding the Bay of Tivat and an overcast sky suggested that 44Cup Porto Montenegro competitors would be in for another day of adrenalin-filled competition in winds in the high teens. In the event the wind started dropping almost the moment the timing for the sequence was announced.

Day 2 44Cup Porto Montenegro - Team Aqua top scorer

44Cup video above published Apr 11, 2019: While the sun was out and the rain held off, Porto Montenegro presented a challenging second day of 44Cup racing with conditions starting off in 10 knots and building to 20 by the close of play this afternoon. A light patch around the committee boat helped create nail-biting photo finishes in two of today's three races.

See also Day 1 video and Day 2 #Shotoftheday video: Spinnaker Burst. Porto Montenegro is the first event of the 2019 44Cup which pits the world's top businessmen and the best sailors in the industry compete in high-performance one-design 44-foot carbon racing yachts. The RC44 Championship Tour has been given a makeover and has been rechristened the 44Cup.

44Cup Porto Montenegro, April, 10 to 14 April 2019, hosted by the world-renowned superyacht marina Porto Montenegro situated in Tivat on the Bay of Kotor, virtually landlocked from the sea, with a setting that is spectacular, nestled between mountains and vast fjords to Venetian hamlets and untouched parks. Home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Montenegro is on the ascent as a tourist destination. The tiny Balkan nation is perched on the eastern Adriatic yet heavily influenced by its Mediterranean neighbors.

The team came in just 7 minutes behind Maserati. RORC video above published Feb 20, 2019, © Acquafilms Antigua/RORC.

Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race 2018, Video & LIVE Feed

Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race 2018 – Corinthian spirit

The 2018 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race concluded on 31 December 2018 with the final prizegiving held in Hobart, Tasmania. Of the 85 yachts who started the 74th edition, 79 completed the 628-nm race and there were six retirements. Recipients of Rolex timepieces were Alive as overall race winner and Wild Oats XI for line honours. The achievements of all class winners were recognized as were the personal and collective achievements of the sailors and crews in finishing this revered and grueling offshore race, one which is embodied by a true Corinthian spirit. Rolex has been Title Sponsor of the 628-nm race, organised by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia with the collaboration of the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania, since 2002.

UPDATE Dec 29: ALIVE, a 66-ft Reichel/Pugh design owned by Phillip Turner, has been announced as overall winner of the 2018 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race on corrected time.

Rolex World of Yachting video: ALIVE, a 66-ft Reichel/Pugh design owned by Phillip Turner, has been announced as overall winner of the 2018 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. The fifth yacht to finish this year's race, Alive prevails from an 85-strong international fleet. Alive becomes the first Tasmanian yacht to win the race since 1979 and the fourth winner from the island since the inaugural race in 1945. Turner and his crew were rewarded for their historic success with the Tattersall Cup and a Rolex timepiece at a presentation held on Constitution Dock. Rolex has been Title Sponsor of the 628-nm race, organised by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia with the collaboration of the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania, since 2002.

Dec 29, 2018--Following a protest against Wild Oats XI by the Race Committee of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, which was held by the International Jury at Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania today, it was found that the protest was invalid and so Wild Oats XI retains her line honours crown.

Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht 2018 – Line Honours

Rolex World of Yachting video above published Dec 28, 2018: A thrilling contest for 2018 Rolex Sydney Hobart line honours went down to the wire with the fleet’s remaining four 100-ft Maxis offering a compelling spectacle and finishing within 42 minutes of each other. Having assumed leadership of the 628-nm race shortly after 04:00 AEDT on the second morning, Wild Oats XI extended her advantage down the Derwent River to cross the Hobart finish line in first place. Owned by the Oatley family and skippered by Mark Richards, Wild Oats XI extends her record number of line honours victories to nine. Peter Harburg’s Black Jack finished second on the water prevailing from an epic duel with last year’s line honours winner Comanche. The gap a mere 63 seconds. The spotlight now turns to who will claim the Tattersall’s Cup and Rolex timepiece as overall race winner.

The Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race Race Committee had previously advised that they lodged a protest against Wild Oats XI: "The Race Committee received a report from the owner of Black Jack advising that Wild Oats XI’s AIS had not transmitted throughout the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race 2018. On investigation, and based on its own evidence, the Race Committee considers there may have been a breach of S.I. 11.4 in respect of Special Regulation 4.09 (a)." According to the CYCA Commodore, Paul Billingham: “The Race Committee is independent of the organising authority of the race to ensure objectivity is maintained and seen to be maintained in circumstances such as this.”

Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race 2018 – A Close Contest

Thirty hours into the 74th edition of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, the four 100-ft Maxis at the front of the fleet were separated by a mere five-nautical miles with a little under 200-nautical miles still to complete. A close contest between the race leaders has ensued ever since yesterday’s memorable Sydney Harbour start. Although the race record is unlikely to be challenged, an exciting finale down the Derwent River into Hobart is forecast. There had been four retirements and the majority of the 81-strong fleet were negotiating the Bass Strait. Rolex has been Title Sponsor of the 628-nm race, organised by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia with the collaboration of the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania, since 2002. Rolex World of Yachting video above published Dec 27, 2018.

Of the five 100-ft Maxis set to contest line honours it was Peter Harburg’s Black Jack who made the most impressive start as first yacht to clear Sydney Heads leading Wild Oats XI, InfoTrack and Scallywag with race record holder Comanche forced to recover ground. A tactically intriguing contest lies ahead with variable conditions forecast and the chances of the race record being broken for the third year running appearing unlikely. The chase for the race’s most coveted prize, overall victory on corrected time, rewarded with the Tattersall’s Cup and Rolex timepiece, is wide open. Matt Allen’s Ichi Ban is among the yachts in contention and attempting to become the first yacht since 1965 to win back-to-back titles. Rolex has been title sponsor of the race, organised by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, since 2002.

2018 RORC Transatlantic Race, Nov 24 Start, LIVE Feed

LIVE Tracker #RORCTransatlanticRace UPDATE Dec 11, 2018: Kuka 3 wins the RORC Transatlantic Race Trophy--Franco Niggeler was presented with the RORC Transatlantic Race Trophy by Grenadian Minister for Tourism & Civil Aviation, Dr. Clarice Modeste-Curwen, M.P. at a ceremony held at Camper & Nicholsons Port Louis Marina, Grenada--while several yachts are still racing, none of them can beat the time set by Kuka 3 after IRC time correction.

RORC Transatlantic Race 2018 Dec 8

Kuka 3 finished the race 06 Dec 2018 for an apparent 1st in IRC overall.

2018 RORC Transatlantic Race Kuka 3 finish video above. Franco Niggeler's Swiss Cookson 50 Kuka3, skippered by Chuny Bermudez, overcame technical issues and a fire on board to post the best IRC corrected time, so far in the RORC Transatlantic Race. After over 12 days of racing in the Atlantic Ocean, the crew looked tired but elated to arribe at Camper and Nicholsons PortLouis Marina.

Kuka3 RORC Transatlantic Race on Thursday 06 December, 2018 at 17:34:35 UTC in an elapsed time of 12 days 5 hrs 34 mins and 35 secs. Kuka3 was the second yacht racing under IRC to finish the race, after Pier Luigi Loro Piana's Supermaxi My Song. Kuka3 has set the best time after IRC correction and is in a very strong position to win the race overall and lift the RORC Transatlantic Race Trophy.

After finishing the RORC Transatlantic Race Kuka3 was safely moored at Camper and Nicholsons Port Louis Marina, where manager Charlotte Bonin and staff cracked open iced cold beers for the Kuka3 team. Chinel Sandy from the Grenada Tourism Board presented Franco Niggeler with
with a basket of Grenadian goods, including chocolate, local spices and condiments. After 12 days of freeze dried cuisine the warm welcome was very much appreciated! RORC Race Officer Steve Cole was on hand to congratulate Kuka3 for finishing the race.

“It was hard especially with the problems at the beginning but it was a beautiful race and we are happy to be here.” commented Kuka3 owner Franco Niggeler.  “The Kuka crew has been fantastic, we have a great leader in Chuny (Bermudez) and he has formed us into a team, we are growing together with his guidance. When things did not go well for us it simply comes down to is simple; you have to fight, try harder and you can overcome the problems. The first beer in Grenada tastes really good especially after drinking warm desalinated water for 12 days.”

“Franco is incredible, he probably was driving the boat more than anyone else for the race, and he is always keen to learn, and that is so important for Franco and for all of the team, especially that he is also very happy.” commented Kuka3 skipper Chuny Bermudez. “It was an interesting race and our first as a team offshore. I was really impressed with the guys, especially as some of them are a bit new to offshore racing. I provide the boundaries and they performed well even when we had our problems. The pitstop in Cape Verde was like a formula one, very fast, just four hours to change batteries and a few cables. Five days before the finish we also had a fire on board, which we dealt with very well, everybody went straight up on deck and we used the correct extinguisher. However we were without communication for days and it was a really big test for us.”

04 Dec 2018: Supermaxi My Song finished at 04 Dec 2018 17:47 UTC, 1st in Line Honours Monohull, setting new monohull race record.

01 Dec 2018: Multihull Line Honours for Maserati Multi 70 - PowerPlay close behind:on 1 December 2018 at 06:54:34 UTC, Giovanni Soldini's Italian Multi 70 Maserati was the first to cross the line in Grenada, taking multihull line honours to finish the 5th edition of the RORC Transatlantic Race. The team completed the 3,000 mile race between Lanzarote and Grenada in an elapsed time of 6 days, 18 hours, 54 minutes and 34 seconds. They were closely followed by Peter Cunningham's MOD70 PowerPlay, who crossed the finish line off Port Louis at 07:40:12, after an Atlantic duel between the two mighty trimarans.

PowerPlay | RORC Transatlantic Race Start 2018

The fifth edition of the RORC Transatlantic Race started on schedule at 1200 UTC on Saturday 24 November. The fleet bid farewell to Marina Lanzarote which had once again provided an ideal location to prepare for the 3,000 nautical mile race to Camper & Nicholsons Port Louis Marina Grenada.

“The fleet got away to a clean start,” commented RORC Deputy Racing Manager, Tim Thubron. “Kuka 3 was first over the line, followed by Class40 Hydra and the two multihulls; PowerPlay and Maserati. My Song held back at the start but was at speed and full upwind mode at the pin, soon leaving the rest of the monohulls in their wind shadow.”

The expected light airs start was enhanced by a sea breeze with many of the teams electing to stay inshore to gain lifting pressure rolling down the volcanic landscape of Lanzarote. Pier Luigi Loro Piana's Supermaxi My Song was the first boat to the turning mark at Puerto Calero Marina, followed by the multihulls.

Peter Cunningham's MOD70 PowerPlay took first blood in the duel with Giovanni Soldini's Maserati Multi 70. PowerPlay led at the turning mark by several boat lengths. Both trimarans were still able to fly a hull in the light pressure, and no doubt the duel across the Canary Islands will be the next phase of the battle to Grenada.

Franco Niggeler's Swiss Cookson 50 Kuka 3 was going well, second on the water in the IRC class behind My Song. Arto Linnervuo's Finnish Xp-44 Xtra Staerk made a cracking start, beating all three Class40s to the turning mark at Puerto Calero.

In the Class40 division, Henrik Bergesen's Norwegian flagged Hydra was first to the mark, just ahead of French skipper Catherine Pourre, racing Eärendil. Stephane Bry's French-Finnish corinthian team racing Sirius was some way behind the leaders, but all set for a 'tick the box' adventure.

Trevor Middleton's British Sun Fast 3600 Black Sheep got away well, the smallest yacht in the race has a crew of five and a massive fan club back home, especially from Yorkshire, Trevor's home county. The amateur crew racing First 47.7 Kali is skippered for the first time by Corinne Wirth. Representing the Swiss Ocean Racing Club, the team are indicative of the ethos of the race. Sail safe and fast!

My Song was making good speed in the light winds leading the monohull fleet, with Kuka 3 six miles astern. Class40s Eärendil and Hydra were side-by-side matched for speed. The entire fleet are heading north above all of the Canary Islands avoiding the wind shadow from the islands. With the ridge of high pressure predicted to provide light winds, the overall strategy for all of the competing yachts will be to stay in the best pressure during the first night.

Finnish Xp-44 Xtra Staerk was still ahead of the Class40s at 1800 UTC and skipper Arto Linnervuo commented from on board;

We had light winds at the start and inshore it was very shifty, so we had to concentrate on keeping the right side of that. We have now seen the wind go to the south and increase a little to about 11 knots. The spirit on board is fantastic and we are so happy to start this race. We are living our dream and we have such interesting boats and sailors to compete with. As the sun goes down, we can feel the chill in the air, but we are dreaming of getting south into warm trade winds and what promises to be fantastic sailing conditions.”

Day 4 RC44 Cascais Cup - Charisma claims Cascais and Championship

RC44 Class Association video above published Nov 18, 2018: After day one here in Cascais, Nico Poons' Charisma was dead last having posted a 7-8. Even newcomer to the fleet, Paulo Mirpuri and his Mirpuri Foundation, enjoying his first ever day racing in the RC44 fleet, were ahead. A 2-2-6-1 on day two saw the Monaco-based Dutchman's team fight back to fourth place, still nine points from the lead. Yesterday, a welcome continuation of their winning streak saw them win both races in big winds and giant seas, coinciding with a most unfortunate day for day two's leader, Team Nika. This propelled Charisma into the lead.

Final overall standings:
No racing on the final day left Charisma hitting the jackpot, winning the RC44 Cascais Cup, with a three point advantage over Chris Bake's Team Aqua, second on countback to Igor Lah's Team CEEREF. Charisma also overhauled both Team Nika and Team CEEREF to claim the annual RC44 Championship for the first time. The RC44 Cascais Cup is the final event of the 2018 RC44 Championship Tour which pits the world's top businessmen and the best sailors in the industry compete in high-performance one-design 44-foot carbon racing yachts.

Day 3 RC44 Cascais Cup 2018 - Charisma cleans up in big conditions Cascais

RC44 Class Association video above published Nov 17, 2018: The dramatically different conditions on day three of the RC44 Cascais Cup saw some teams come to the fore today, perhaps better suited to the severe conditions, none more so than Nico Poons' Charisma. The Monaco-based Dutchman had won yesterday's final race and continued his winning streak today to claim bullets in both of the two races held. In comparison yesterday's runaway leader, Vladimir Prosikhin's Team Nika, had a day they'd rather forget, posting a disappointing 6-8, the latter following some leeward gate spinnaker trawling. The end result going into the final day of the RC44 Cascais Cup, and of the 2018 season, is that Charisma has streaked into the lead, three points ahead of Chris Bake's Team Aqua.

RC44 Class Association video above published Nov 16, 2018: Beautiful drone shots from day two in Cascais from our team at Icarus Sports shows just how close the racing is for the teams competing in the RC44 final.

The final event of the 2018 RC44 Championship Tour is being hosted in Cascais, Portugal, 14th -18th November, 2018, taking on the oceanic conditions and big breeze that makes this sunny spot in southern Europe a favourite with all of the RC44 teams. Official website: www.rc44.com

Rolex Middle Sea Race 2018 Preview

On the year of its 50th anniversary, a record fleet of close to 150 yachts is set to contest the 2018 Rolex Middle Sea Race. First held in 1968, the race has developed from its humble, Corinthian origins into an international event of repute attracting yachts from some 30 different countries. The Rolex Middle Sea Race’s 606-nautical mile course is not only challenging but beautiful taking in active volcanoes, rugged islands and numerous encounters with wildlife. To mark this year’s occasion, race organisers Royal Malta Yacht Club have put in place a number of special events and celebrations. Triumphing at this year’s anniversary edition will hold an even greater appeal for competitors - from the challenge of breaking the 11-year old race record to overall victory on IRC handicap.

‘A Portrait of the Rolex Middle Sea Race’ by Paul Cayard

Legendary and Olympic sailor Paul Cayard describes the allure of one of the Mediterranean’s most important offshore races. The spectacular footage captures the highlights of his impressive sailing career and the majesty of Malta’s historic regatta. The sound of the Saluting Battery cannons sets the fleet off from Valletta’s Grand Harbour to the Strait of Messina, leaving Sicily to port and passing the active volcano of Stromboli followed by the Aeolian and Egadi islands, before eventually returning through the South Comino Channel and the final stretch to the finish, off the Royal Malta Yacht Club. The 606-nautical-mile adventure is a favourite for professional and Corinthian sailors alike, who revel in the sheer beauty of the course.

GC32 TPM Med Cup, Oct 10-14, Toulon, France, LIVE Feed

Day 4 GC32 TPM Med Cup -Ainslie wins in Toulon, as Cammas wins GC32 title

GC32 Racing Tour video above published Oct 14, 2018: large seas rolling into the Rade de Toulon’s open southeasterly side prevented racing on the final day of the 2018 GC32 TPM Med Cup, last event of the GC32 Racing Tour. The eight foiling catamarans ventured out on to the race course ready for a midday start. While 18-20 knots of wind is usually sailable for GC32s, building waves effectively made it ‘survival conditions’. If racing had been held, boats and possibly crew would have been damaged, reasoned the race committee, who finally raised ‘AP over A’, signalling the abandonment of racing, at 1350. The GC32 TPM Med Cup is the final event of the GC32 Racing Tour 2018 season.

Day 3 GC32 TPM Med Cup - Cammas back on form

GC32 Racing Tour video above published Oct 13, 2018: On the penultimate day of the GC32 TPM Med Cup, Franck Cammas’ NORAUTO powered by Team France fought back to second place overall after a disappointing Friday when they were crippled by a broken foil.

Day 2 GC32 TPM Med Cup - Three bullet INEOS soars ahead

GC32 Racing Tour video above published Oct 12, 2018: day two of the GC32 TPM Med Cup, the final event of the GC32 Racing Tour, held with support from Toulon Provence Mediterranée and the city of Toulon. Star of the day was unquestionably Ben Ainslie and his America’s Cup crew on board INEOS TEAM UK. The British team won three consecutive races of today’s five, coming second in the remaining two. This was despite being called over early in the first race – today’s only race held with a reaching start (due to a wind shift, the latter four races had upwind starts). The GC32 TPM Med Cup is the final event of the GC32 Racing Tour 2018 season.

GC32 Racing Tour video above published Oct 12, 2018: best shots from the opening day of racing at the GC32 TPM Med Cup.

GC32 TPM Med Cup, Oct 10-14, Toulon, France
The GC32 Racing Tour 2018 concludes in the south of France, at Toulon, France’s third biggest Mediterranean port and capital of the Var department. Toulon is fast gaining notoriety in yacht racing circles having hosted the high profile French stop of the America’s Cup World Series in September 2016. Boat berthing and the race village are in the marina attached to the Yacht Club de Toulon. Racing will take place on the Rade de Toulon, with prevailing winds from the west. The bay is well protected with the potential for perfect GC32 foiling conditions: wind and flat water. Two top French teams are competing, both with crew from the French America’s Cup team.
