SHK Scallywag crew: Skipper David Witt, Anemike Bes, Harry Bethwaite, Tom Clout, James Crampton, Nick Crones, Ferdinand Galetta, Kris Mark Galetta, Alex Gough, Phil Harmer, Jack Macartney, Matt Pearce, Ben Piggott, Trystan Seal, Miles Seddon, Lindsey Stead and Charlie Wyatt.

Three yachts are having a very close battle for the podium after time correction. Kevin McLaughlin's x-55 Rye (USA) is 300 miles from the finish and estimated to be second under IRC. Just one hour behind Rye on corrected time is Peter Grueterich's xP-44 Xpatriate (USA), which has 323 mile to go. Morgan Watson and Meg Reilly's Pogo 12.50 Hermes II (CAN) is fourth after IRC time correction, with 304 miles to go and very much challenging for the podium.

In CSA Cruising, Carlo Falcone's 1938 79ft Alfred Mylne ketch Mariella (ANT) continues to impress. Mariella is estimated to be leading after time correction by five hours from Pata Negra and Hermes II. Final results will be posted here.

The Antigua Bermuda Race is organised by the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club in association with Antigua Sailing Week. The oceanic race will start from Fort Charlotte Antigua, just after Antigua Sailing Week on Wednesday 8th May. The 2019 Antigua Bermuda Race will be the third edition of the 935 nautical mile race through the Atlantic Ocean to Bermuda.
Two months before the start, 20 yachts had expressed their intention to race. The 100ft superyacht SHK Scallywag, will be racing with a full complement of world class sailors. The smallest is the Open 40 Raucous, skippered by Henry Rourke, which will race double-handed. Two of this year's entries have competed in all previous editions of the race. Pogo 12.5 Hermes, co-skippered by Meg Reilly (USA) and Morgen Watson (CAN), and Hanse 43 Avanti, skippered by Jeremi Jablonski (USA), which will be racing double-handed.

"Team Sun Hung Kai/Scallywag's team owner, SH Lee, is very excited to be racing his 100ft' Super Maxi with his team in Antigua for the first time in the upcoming 2019 Antigua Bermuda Race," commented Scallywag skipper Dave Witt (AUS). The 100ft canting keel Scallywag (ex-Ragamuffin) is very capable of breaking the Antigua Bermuda Race record which was set by Stephen Murray, Jr. (USA) racing Volvo 70 Warrior last year (2 days, 18 hours, 32 minutes and 48 seconds). The Antigua Bermuda Race is part of the Atlantic Ocean Race Series (AORS) and is equally weighted with the RORC Caribbean 600, Rolex Fastnet Race, and Rolex Middle Sea Race. Scallywag will be picking up valuable points prior to the start of the main event for the series, the Transatlantic Race, starting June 25, 2019.

The 2019 Atlantic Ocean Racing Series consists of five races: RORC Caribbean 600, Antigua Bermuda Race, Transatlantic Race 2019, Rolex Fastnet Race, and Rolex Middle Sea Race. Three races, including the Transatlantic Race (weighted 1.5) will be required to qualify.

The 935-mile Antigua Bermuda Race is organized in association with Antigua Sailing Week and is supported by the Bermuda Tourism Authority. Yachts of 40ft and over will be racing under the IRC Rating Rule, MOCRA and the CSA Racing Rule, with the latter amended to permit boats to use their engines, subject to a time penalty. The Royal Bermuda Yacht Club, with many years experience hosting the Newport Bermuda Race, will guarantee a fantastic welcome and a great party.

Epic Highlights | Antigua Sailing Week 2019

An epic recap of the 52nd Antigua Sailing Week! Video published May 4, 2019.

KPMG Youth 2 Keelboat Race Day 4 | Antigua Sailing Week

Big breeze and huge Caribbean surf spiced up the action for KPMG Y2K (Youth to Keelboat) Race Day! Y2K is all about getting young Antiguan sailors into the yachting industry. Aptly two youth teams showed tremendous camaraderie and quick thinking in the face of adversity. KPMG was well represented at the daily prize giving by John Applegate, Lisa Brathwaite, Christopher Brome, Michael Edghill and Bertram Alexander. Today's winners were presented with celebratory bottles of champagne and all of the 40-strong young sailors racing at Antigua Sailing Week were invited onto the stage to much applause. Antiguan guitarist Joshu provided the sounds with a perfect acoustic set from the main stage.

Reggae in the Park Race Day | Antigua Sailing Week 2019

20 knots of trades powered up the action on Reggae in the Park Race Day at Antigua Sailing Week. Over a thousand people from 21 nations enjoyed the spectacular conditions on the south coast of Antigua. Two races were held for most classes – the CSA Racing Classes were launched today with a full on foam-up on the Windward Course. The Bareboat Classes and Club Class raced short, sharp, windward-leeward courses off Rendezvous Bay.

In three Bareboat Classes, 26 teams from Australia, Austria, France, Germany, Great Britain, Switzerland and the USA are competing at Antigua Sailing Week. Competition at the top is intense. After five races, Alexander Pfeiffer’s KH+P Bavastro is leading Bareboat 1 by a single point: “I have been coming to Antigua Sailing Week since 1992,” commented Alexander Pfeiffer. “I can only remember one race which had to be postponed due to lack of wind in all those years. The sailing conditions are so reliable here and the people are so friendly. We also race against people that we do not know, which is very interesting. Even my team has been put together just for the regatta. We will be enjoying Reggae in the Park tonight for sure because we are moored right next to the stage!”

In Bareboat 3, Hans Steidle’s KH+P Barbuda is leading the class, with Michael Cannon and Neil Harvey’s KHS&S Contractors from Florida, who have been the overall bareboat champions for the last two years, in second place. However, with a discard kicking in for the next race, there is virtually nothing between the two teams.

Hans Steidle has a young team who have sailed together on Lake Constance for many years: “We have grown up together racing Optimists, 420s, and now J/70s,” commented Matthias Steidle. “We are all in our 20s, but the youngest is Luitpold Lindner. This is our first time to Antigua and we are really loving the fantastic sailing conditions and the fun ashore. We will definitely be going to Reggae in the Park and tomorrow, we will take the opportunity to see more of Antigua with an island tour.”

In Bareboat 2, Peter Zauner’s Tintoret leads the class. The Bavarian team was runner-up last year and will be hoping for victory in the 52nd edition of Antigua Sailing Week. Tintoret is having a great battle with Jakob Oetiker’s Swiss team racing KH+P Botero and Nicholas Jordan’s Ananda.

Today it was the turn of the Double-Handed Class for some bay watching. Their courses included a downwind slide round to the west coast of Antigua and a blustery beat back to the finish. Philip Asche’s American Swan 44 Freebird won the race.

The Multihulls had a spectacular course southeast of Antigua, including a long beat east along the rugged coastline, followed by a succession of blast reaches in full offshore conditions. Robert Szustkowski’s HH66 R-SIX won the race. Antigua Sailing Week video above published Apr 30, 2019.

Fever-Tree Race Day | Antigua Sailing Week 2019

The second day of Antigua Sailing Week was Fever-Tree Race Day, with the impressive fleet mixing it up in gorgeous weather on the south, east and west coast of Antigua. The Bareboat fleet, Double-Handed and Club Class started off Windward Beach with fresh trade wind in the high teens. The six CSA racing classes raced off Rendezvous Beach on tight round the cans courses with more sheltered but gusty conditions in a packed out race area. The Multihulls course took the flyers down the west coast past some of the best beaches in Antigua.

In CSA 1, Sir Peter Harrison had a wonderful birthday. His magnificent British superyacht Sojana scored two bullets adding to their win on day one. Sojana is unbeaten so far at Antigua Sailing Week. “We are probably the most difficult boat to manoeuvre at the regatta. With so many boats around us on the Rendezvous Course it was terrifying just getting in a position to start. Throw in two races and its double the stress,” commented Sojana's navigator, Jonny Malbon. “It was a tricky day but also a really good one. We had five hoists and drops, endless tacks and gybes, with most of the moves just a few minutes apart. Getting it wrong on a boat like Sojana you will pay a very high tariff. The boss is super-pumped at getting two bullets on his birthday - the team did an awesome job today.”

In CSA 2, Ker 46 Lady Mariposa, skippered by Dane Jesper Bank won the first race, but a sixth in the last race has shortened their class lead to just one point. Sir Hugh Bailey's Antiguan team racing Farr 45 Rebel won the last race to move up to second in the class, ahead of Vittorio Biscarini's Italian Mylius 15E25 Ars Una, purely on countback.

Racing in CSA 3, Irishman Adrian Lee is enjoying his sixth Antigua Sailing Week. For this edition Adrian is at the helm of his Swan 60 Lee Overlay Partners II and leads the class after winning the last race today. After three races, Lee Overlay Partners II is tied on points with Mark Jagger's British CNB 60 Theia of London. Ondeck Antigua's Farr 65 Spirit of Juno retired from the last race, dropping to third for the class.

2019 RORC Caribbean 600 - Multihull record and line honours

First finishers in Antigua: Maserati Multi 70 skippered by Giovanni Soldini (ITA) crossed the finish line of the RORC Caribbean 600 at 20:49:00 AST on Tuesday 19 February 2019 in an elapsed time of 1 day, 06 hours 49 minutes and 00 seconds, taking Multihull Line honours and setting a new Multihull Race Record in the 11th edition of the race; beating the previous record by just over one hour. The extraordinary events surrounding the battle for Multihull Line Honours will be remembered for years to come. Just 48 hours before the start of the 2019 RORC Caribbean 600, Jason Carroll's MOD 70 Argo (USA) capsized at high speed in training. It seemed impossible that Argo would be racing, but after a monumental effort by the sailing community in Antigua, Argo's crew and shore team, Argo miraculously made the impossible a reality. The team came in just 7 minutes behind Maserati. RORC video above published Feb 20, 2019, © Acquafilms Antigua/RORC.

2018 RORC Caribbean 600 - Wrap up film

RORC video above published Feb 27, 2018: The RORC Caribbean 600 has grown up to become a 'must do' offshore classic. The 2018 race celebrated its tenth anniversary and the 600-mile race around 11 Caribbean islands is on the bucket list of any serious offshore sailor. This year, any remanence of its stature as a Caribbean cruise was totally extinguished. 25 knots of solid trade winds with gusty squalls and a confused sea state delivered a challenge to over 800 sailors from six different continents. The 2018 edition of the race was the coming of age of the RORC Caribbean 600. 84 starters, 41 finishers, 43 retirees.

On hearing the result, George David commented: "In ten years the '600 has gone from a handful of boats in its first edition, to 84 on its tenth anniversary. It's a great race all around; congratulations to the RORC and everyone involved. We're delighted to have won overall in IRC and better yet, to have broken our own record at the same time."

2017 Antigua Bermuda Race Start May 12, Sailing Video

UPDATE: 2017 Antigua Bermuda Race: Monohull Line Honours to Warrior:

Video above published May 16, 2017: Stephen Murray Jr.'s Volvo 70 Warrior, finished the 2017 Antigua Bermuda Race on Tuesday 16 May 2017 taking Monohull Line Honours and setting the Monohull Race Record for the Antigua Bermuda Race of 3 days 20 hours 32 mins & 41 secs.

2017 Antigua Bermuda Race start

Video above published May 13, 2017: Start of the first Antigua Bermuda Race organised by the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club in association with Antigua Sailing Week. Sponsored by Goslings Rum and Bermuda Tourism.
Antigua Bermuda Race organised by the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club in association with Antigua Sailing Week: An impressive entry list is taking shape for the Antigua Bermuda Race which starts from Antigua on Friday 12th May, 2017. With 22 entries, including 17 over 50ft and seven Maxis and one SuperMaxi, the sight of the fleet departing for the 900 nautical mile race will be nothing short of spectacular. The variety of the fleet shows the wide appeal of the offshore race, attracting ocean going cruisers, round the world racing yachts, high performance multihulls, as well as classic designs. The latest entry to the Antigua Bermuda Race is the beautiful classic Bermudian yawl, Mariella, skippered by owner, Carlo Falcone. The 80ft (24m) Alfred Mylne-designed ketch was built entirely from wood by the legendary William Fife & Son yard in Scotland in 1938 and was lovingly restored by Carlo after being badly damaged in a hurricane. Mariella is now in fantastic condition and on top form having secured overall victory in the recent Panerai Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta.

One of the first yachts to enter the Antigua Bermuda Race was Spirit of Bermuda and there is more than meets the eye to the 112ft three-masted schooner. Just a couple of weeks before the start of the Antigua Bermuda Race, Spirit of Bermuda was racing with the giants at Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta. Spirit of Bermuda got the better of the 141ft (43m) Columbia and gave the professional crew on the 210ft (64m) Adix a run for their money. Spirit of Bermuda is owned by the Bermuda Sloop Foundation, the brain child of founder Malcolm Kirkland, with co-founders Jay Kempe and Alan Burland.

Passionate corinthians will be rubbing shoulders with Olympic medallists, America's Cup winners and round the world sailors in a race to take home the coveted RORC Caribbean 600 Trophy. The 600 mile course is designed to offer a tactical, high speed race with stunning vistas at every corner.

Latest Entry Lists: here (pdf)

"The RORC Caribbean 600 is very different to the other 600 mile races and definitely not a holiday race in the Caribbean," commented RORC Racing Manager, Nick Elliott. "The race has many tactical legs with land effects and wind-driven currents which are both difficult to predict. The heat of the day and the long nights are also unusual features for an offshore race making it every bit as challenging as the Rolex Fastnet Race, and just as exciting. It is interesting to note that the records for the Rolex Fastnet Race and the RORC Caribbean 600 are very similar."

Featuring a magnificent collection of yachts, an incredibly varied fleet will be racing under the IRC, CSA and MOCRA rating systems, as well as Class40s racing under class rules. Rambler 88, Phaedo3 and Maserati will be gunning for course records, however, the winner of the RORC Caribbean 600 Trophy will be decided by the yacht with the best corrected time under IRC.

Phaedo3 to set the pace for Antigua Bermuda Race 2017 - Setting the pace for the 2017 Antigua Bermuda Race: Lloyd Thornburg's American MOD70 Phaedo3

Lloyd Thornburg's American MOD70 Phaedo3 will be attempting a record run from Antigua to Bermuda this April with a view to joining the Antigua Bermuda Race next year. Phaedo3 has set multiple world records over the past 12 months, including the Antigua to Newport passage, taking just 3 days, 5 hours, 55 minutes and 12 seconds to complete the 1,560 nautical mile course. The skipper for the record attempt will be Jules Verne record holder, Brian Thompson:

"I have probably sailed from Antigua to Bermuda 10 times; it is the classic delivery up from the Caribbean to the East Coast of the United States. In a normal boat it would be a five day trip, but Phaedo could possibly do it in two days. We literally passed Bermuda when we set the Antigua to Newport record last year and we did that in about 48 hours! Ideal conditions for us would be a well established high pressure system to the east of Bermuda, so we start with a 20 knot southeasterly, which becomes more southerly as we approach Bermuda - that would be perfect. Phaedo should be in Bermuda for a couple of days so if you want to come and see a real offshore, mile-eating machine, come along and have a look," says Phaedo3's British Co-Skipper, Brian Thompson.

Fifteen yachts ranging from 43 to 139ft (13-42m) have already registered their interest for the inaugural 2017 Antigua Bermuda Race. Yachts from all over the United States, Great Britain, Bermuda and Antigua are amongst the early entries, which include Supermaxis, Maxi Racing yachts, Classics, Performance blue water cruiser and high performance multihulls. Joining the schooner America and 112ft (34m) sloop, Spirit of Bermuda will be two British Maxi yachts; Peter Harrison's 115ft (35m) ketch, Sojana and Mike Slade's Maxi 100, Leopard 3. Lloyd Thornburg's MOD70, Phaedo3 cannot wait to get into action and will be attempting a record run this year prior to the 2017 Antigua Bermuda Race.

The 935 nautical mile race from Antigua to Bermuda will start on 12 May 2017 following the 50th edition of Antigua Sailing Week. Competing yachts will arrive in Bermuda for the Louis Vuitton America's Cup Qualifiers, the 35th America's Cup Match, America's Cup Superyacht Regatta, J Class Regatta and the Red Bull Youth America's Cup.

"The America's Cup excitement in Bermuda continues to grow. Last weekend we had M32 match racing, J105's, IOD's racing and the Bermuda Optimist World Championship trials all happening in the Great Sound with Oracle, Softbank and Artemis screaming by, testing their new boats. It's quite a sight from the Optimist Committee boat having Softbank (Team Japan) do a foiling gybe around the pin end of the start line! Monterey (Farr PH56) has been in Europe since competing in the Newport Bermuda Race in 2004 and we raced in the Rolex Middle Sea Race in Malta in 2008. We cannot miss being home for the America's Cup. We will do the 2016 ARC and get ready for a homecoming in the 2017 Antigua Bermuda Race along with Spirit of Bermuda, America and another Bermudan

The Antigua Bermuda Race is supported by the Bermuda Tourism Authority and Goslings Rum. For more information about the Antigua Bermuda Race including pre-registration of potential interest see: www.antiguabermuda.com. The inaugural Antigua Bermuda Race will commence on Friday 12 May after the 50th edition of Antigua Sailing Week in early May 2017. Organised by the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club in association with Antigua Sailing Week, the Antigua Bermuda Race is designed to offer an exciting passage race to Bermuda, the home of the 2017 America's Cup. The race is open to yachts and multihulls with a minimum length of 40ft (12m) with a valid CSA and/or IRC or Superyacht Rating Certificate. A provision of a Motor Sailing Handicap will be overlaid for Cruiser Racers
