It was the most global Crew Allocation ever, with crew representing 36 of the 44 nationalities taking part in the race turning up at the Portsmouth Guildhall in the UK to find out what team they will be in. There were plenty of surprises and laughs for the more than 400 crew and 200 Race Crew Supporters, but the main feeling of the day was bring on race start.

The Clipper 2019-20 Race will begin at St Katharine Docks, London, on September 1. Around 700 non-professional sailors from all walks of life, who have spent months training and preparing, will take part in the 40,000 nautical mile eleven month ocean adventure that includes six ocean crossings and visits six continents.

The global Clipper Race Route will include stopovers in Punta del Este, Uruguay, Cape Town in South Africa, Fremantle and the Whitsundays in Australia, and Sanya, Zhuhai and Qingdao in China.

2018 RORC Season's Points Championship

Epic highlights of the 2018 RORC Season's Points Championship. Winning the Jazz Trophy for first overall in IRC was the Army Sailing Association's X-41 British Soldier, the first Armed Services team to win the championship since it was established in 1999. British Soldier took part in 11 races, winning the championship in the very last race, with crew members ranging from Private soldiers, through Sergeants, right up to Colonel. Five different skippers were in charge during the campaign: Andrew Britton, Will Naylor, Phil Caswell, Paul Macro and Donall Ryan.

The 2018 RORC Yacht of the Year, winning the Somerset Memorial Trophy was Matt Allen's Ichi Ban. Matt's Australian team won the Brisbane to Gladstone Race, the Rolex Sydney Hobart, and the Sydney Gold Coast Race. Ichi Ban's series of results, in the three major Ocean races in Australia, has never been matched.

RSHYR 2018 - Supermaxi Interviews (video)

RSHYR 2018 - Supermaxi Interviews

RSHYR 2018 – Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race 2018 post-race supermaxi interviews: With much of the attention in Hobart focused on the AIS protest against Wild Oats XI (the protest was found invalid at the hearing) this selection of interviews with skippers and some highly credentialed crew aboard the four super maxis gives some insights on how things played out on the water for the four super maxis. Bow Caddy spoke to Juan Vila (Wild Oats XI), Mark Bradford, Tom Addis and Brad Butterworth (Black Jack), Kyle Langford (Comanche) and Chris Nicholson and Bouwe Bekking (InfoTrack). Even across this eminent line-up there was some surprise that four such different designs could occupy the same patch of water for so much of the race. Crosbie Lorimer video first published Dec 28, 2018
