America's Cup World Series: Ben Ainslie advances to quarterfinals - San Jose Mercury News: "For Ben Ainslie, Wednesday's opening session of the America's Cup World Series on San Francisco Bay could not have been more different from his last sailing competition.Instead of being the lone occupant in a 14-foot dinghy that carried him to Olympic gold in London 17 days earlier, Ainslie was skipper of a five-man crew skimming across the water in a 45-foot catamaran. But the results were similar as Ainslie's boat survived a challenge from Team Korea to qualify for the match-race quarterfinals that begin Thursday afternoon. "We're obviously very happy with the first day of racing, but there's a huge amount we can learn and improve on," said Ainslie, a Cornwall native who carried the host country's flag into the stadium during the Olympic closing ceremonies last month. This week, Ainslie has his name on the team -- JP Morgan Ben Ainslie Racing -- competing in the world series event. This will be a chance for him to prepare for the 2013 America's Cup, where he will provide the 72-foot Oracle Team USA catamaran skippered by Jimmy Spithill with competition during defender practice races. . .  .
