Free PDF Nautical Charts; Sailboat and Tanker collision video

Free PDF Nautical Charts are available for a three-month trial period, from October 22, 2013, to January 22, 2014. NOAA is providing about a thousand high-resolution printable nautical charts—almost the entire NOAA suite of charts—as PDF files. The PDF nautical charts, which are exact images of the traditional charts currently printed by lithography, will be available for free download. Coast Survey will evaluate usage and user feedback to determine whether to continue the service after January 22, 2014. The chart PDFs are listed by chart number. To find the chart you need, first use the Online Chart Viewer. Please provide comments on this new service (more at links above).

But one sailboat failed to give way and was hit, having its mast and rigging ripped off when one of its sails got caught in the supertanker's anchor. The yacht was quickly attended by several vessels offering assistance. . . . The incident was captured by Tim Addison for COWES.co.uk
