A Skippers duel | Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 - published on May 20, 2015
It’s Leg 7 of a nine-month marathon. Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing is the overall leader, currently six points ahead of Dongfeng Race Team. But Charles Caudrelier won’t give up and let Ian Walker win that easily - his men are still in the hunt for the first place.

From heroes to zeroes | Volvo Ocean Race 2014-2015: "... caught for a day in a transition zone near the ice exclusion zone and in sub ten winds, the fleet has slowed down – but it’s cold, and it’s stressful. Seriously stressful. There are 0.6 nautical mile between Jens’ boat, currently first, and MAPFRE, second. Less than 3nm between the first five boats. And 8nm of total spread for the fleet...."

Can Sailing In The 2016 Olympics Kill You?: "... The International Olympic Committee (IOC), International Sailing Federation (ISAF), Rio Organizing Committee and at least one of the 140 Member National Authorities are remaining silent on water quality tests...The secrecy in all of this is appalling...  Is Olympic Sailing in Guanabara Bay in 2016 going to provide that same attraction, waiting to see if someone might die?" 2016 Olympic Games Sailing out of Rio?
2nd Message to Sailing Leadership Worldwide | Live Your Dream: Sail Lake Michigan: By Glenn McCarthy - "Just to make sure that the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) cannot hide and pretend that they are not aware of these articles, I sent a 2nd email to the leadership of the country members of ISAF... Dear Fellow Sailors: As the 500 Day mark just passed for the Opening Ceremonies of the 2016 Olympic Games, we still know that Sailing is unprepared to provide a fair competition.  Pressing to give Guanabara Bay "another chance" in August 2015 is just wasting everyone's time.  A "chance" is gambling and there is no more time for gambling.   Move Sailing out of Rio and to a new venue like Buzios, Brazil, it is not too late for you to speak up...."

Miami International Boat Show plans challenged by Environmental groups: South Florida Business Journal--... On May 8, nine environmental organizations submitted a joint letter saying the permit needs to be amended. Groups in the letter include the Tropical Audubon Society, Environmental Coalition of Miami Beach, Friends of Biscayne Bay, Friends of Virginia Key, the Florida Keys Chapter of Izaak Walton League of America, the Cypress Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America, Sierra Club Miami, Urban Environment League of Greater Miami and Urban Paradise Guild. The letter lists many concerns but mainly argues that Virginia Key and the basin should not be used for a major development like the boat show. They also say the temporary docks will natively impact endangered wildlife such as manatees. They have requested a public hearing before the application can be approved or denied...

Sopot Match Race, Alpari World Match Racing Tour, Jul 31-Aug 3 (video)

Sopot Match Race, Alpari World Match Racing Tour, July 31-August 3 (promo video above)
Sopot is the most prestigeous sea resort in Poland located by the Baltic Sea, between Gdansk and Gdynia. 12 teams will be competing at the Sopot Match Race, Stage 3 of the Alpari World Match Racing Tour starting on 31 July and culminating in the final on 3 of August.

ALPARI World Match Racing Tour - Alpari World Match Racing Tour moves on to Poland: "Sopot, Poland (30th July 2014): One of the most exciting developments in the Alpari World Match Racing Tour for 2014 is the addition of Sopot Match Race into its roster of events.  This year will be the 11th edition of Sopot Match Race, taking place on the Baltic in the Polish holiday resort close to Gdansk. As a nation Poland is one of the most prolific internationally when it comes to match racing with the annual Polish Match Tour comprising five or six events annually. As a result, according to event organiser and competitor Przemek Tarnacki, his country also has more sailors in the top 100 of the ISAF match race rankings than any other. It is therefore fitting that Poland’s top event for the first time this year should form part of the Alpari World Match Racing Tour... Racing takes place over 4 days from Thursday 31st July until Sunday 3rd August and sunshine with a light to moderate sea breeze are to be expected. The format will see a full round of Qualifying, with the winner advancing to the Semi Finals, followed by a 6 team Quarter Final then Semi Final and Final."
