2013 Extreme Sailing Series starts March 5

Team Korea enters 2013 Extreme Sailing Series » Extreme Sailing Series: "The inaugural Act of the 2013 Extreme Sailing Series will commence in Muscat, Oman in just over one weeks time where Team Korea, the Korean America’s Cup syndicate, skippered by Peter Burling, Olympic silver medallist from London 2012, will line up for their Extreme 40 debut. At 22 years of age, Burling is the youngest skipper in the Extreme 40 fleet, but age aside, the Kiwi has already earned his stripes in the international sailing arena. Not only does he already have two Olympic Games and a silver medal in the high-performance 49er class to his name, Burling is hoping his experience as skipper of Team Korea in the AC World Series help him adapt to the short course stadium format of the Extreme Sailing Series quickly. "

Russian Ghost Cruise Ship Reappears: " . . . the Orlova was spotted by the Atlantic Hawk, a supply craft used to ferry materials to and from oil platforms. The Atlantic Hawk was able to intercept and secure the Orlova but cut the vessel loose on February 4, following orders of Transport Canada, the country's equivalent of the US Department of Transportation. Now she's again sailing on her own, a prisoner of the Atlantic's currents. The information was published by the US National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, an organization that creates classified maps for the United States military as well as maps for civil use. According to the agency, the ship was about 1,300 nautical miles away from Ireland and now it's en route to Europe. [Daily Memorandum via US National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency via Physorg]"
