Volvo Ocean Race, Leg 4, Feb 24, 2015: Leg 4 to Auckland, day 16. "This is really unbelievable, now it’s so close,” Jens Dolmer whispers on Team Brunel. "Who will be the first to 'make the jump' in the wind and maybe stay ahead.” The freshly rebuilt confidence on Team Brunel gets a big bash with the latest position report, when they realise they're on the wrong side of the cloud. All the other boats get wind from the east and within a couple of hours Team Brunel lost 40nm to the leaders: MAPFRE, Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing and Dongfeng Race Team.

The Bountiful Horn Beckons for Stamm & Le Cam: "Legend has it that in 1788 the HMS Bounty of Captain Bligh made just 85 miles in 31 days while trying to round Cape Horn. If they round Cape Horn as expected on Tuesday 24th February, Barcelona World Race leaders Bernard Stamm and Jean Le Cam will have taken 31 days to race from the longitude of Cape of Good Hope to the most feared of all Capes. US Sailing Statement On Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Sailing IPC Decision | US Sailing: "The following is a statement from US Sailing, the national governing body for sailing, on the recent decision by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to not include sailing at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. “Yesterday’s news about Paralympic sailing being dropped from the slate of sports at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games is highly disappointing. Our sport attracts a diverse group of disabled athletes across the world, as demonstrated by the three fleets of sailors from 14 countries competing in Miami last week at ISAF Sailing World Cup Miami. US Sailing will join ISAF, IFDS and the national governing bodies of our fellow Paralympic sailing nations to lead an appeal of this decision in the fight for reinstatement of Paralympic sailing at the Tokyo 2020 Games.” – Tom Hubbell, President of US Sailing"

Catamaran Offshore Nightmare, 5 People Rescued, Sailboat Mast Broke 200 miles off North Carolina coast (video)

World News Videos | ABC World News

5 boaters rescued from sailboat after its mast broke 200 miles off North Carolina coast | Fox News:
....55-foot catamaran Rain Maker suffered a broken mast in 40 mph winds and 13-foot seas. It occurred about 200 miles southeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.... (published Jan 31, 2015)

Note the profile in Forbes, September 29, 2014 issue of Forbes Life:
On A Gunboat Catamaran, You Can Have Your Martini And 30 Knots, Too - ForbesLife: "...Builder Peter Johnstone, who left his family’s J/Boats yacht empire to start Gunboat, says the safety fears about multihull yachts are overblown. Johnstone says he’s navigated through 70-knot gales in the North Atlantic by hauling down the sails, closing in the mammoth salon and pulling up the centerboards that help the boat track straight through the waves. When a rogue wave hits from the side, he says, the Gunboat just skids sideways with it, instead of absorbing tons of water on the deck like a monohull... As for Cohen, he plans to proselytize about the merits of carbon fiber and twin hulls all summer in New York, then take Rainmaker down to the Caribbean for the winter... "
