Birthday boys | Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 - Feb 25, 2015 Leg 4 to Auckland. Day 17. Right in the middle of a drag race with Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing, Dongfeng’s Charles Caudrelier takes a moment to wish Ian Walker a happy 45th birthday. A priceless exchange between two great sailors.
Inside Track: Leg 4 Episode 12 | Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 - Feb 24, 2015 Out of the doldrums and into the straightaway! This one's for the die-hards, as we call to get updates from the two French navigators on the two red boats.
Volvo Ocean Race, Leg 4, Feb 24, 2015: Leg 4 to Auckland, day 16. "This is really unbelievable, now it’s so close,” Jens Dolmer whispers on Team Brunel. "Who will be the first to 'make the jump' in the wind and maybe stay ahead.” The freshly rebuilt confidence on Team Brunel gets a big bash with the latest position report, when they realise they're on the wrong side of the cloud. All the other boats get wind from the east and within a couple of hours Team Brunel lost 40nm to the leaders: MAPFRE, Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing and Dongfeng Race Team.
Volvo Ocean Race - Inside Track: Leg 4 # 11 - Feb 23, 2015: Doldrums? What doldrums? Or more importantly, where!?! The teams raced through what should have been light winds but are now caught in the matrix of storms at the end of the 1000 mile long tropical clouds! Tightest racing yet this leg!!!

Tuesday the Horn and Invercargill: "Leaders Cheminées Poujoulat continue to make excellent progress towards Cape Horn with about 640 miles to sail. They have SSE'ly winds - slightly awkwardly. They will reach Cape Horn in 25-30kts of SW'ly which will carry Bernard Stamm and Jean Le Cam past in good conditions and allow them to pass directly close to Staten Island."

The Bountiful Horn Beckons for Stamm & Le Cam: "Legend has it that in 1788 the HMS Bounty of Captain Bligh made just 85 miles in 31 days while trying to round Cape Horn. If they round Cape Horn as expected on Tuesday 24th February, Barcelona World Race leaders Bernard Stamm and Jean Le Cam will have taken 31 days to race from the longitude of Cape of Good Hope to the most feared of all Capes. They passed Good Hope on which they passed on 24th January at 20:20hrs UTC. and those who like the fearful symmetries of IMOCA Round the World Racing might not be too far wrong to stab at a 24th March finish into Barcelona"

Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 - Feb 15, 2015: Leg 4 to Auckland. Day 7. Team Brunel has taken the lead. Their initial bet to take the northerly route early in the leg and sail hundreds of miles more is paying off. Now the two northern teams are cashing in. ”They are 4 knots quicker. I hope they don’t continue otherwise we have a lot of work to do.” says Will Oxley on Team Alvimedica
Northern rewards | Volvo Ocean Race 2014-2015: "... It’s Day 7 of Leg 4, and after much held breath and crossed fingers, the Dutch team [Team Brunel], who, alongside Team SCA opted to break from the pack and sail north of the fleet, have finally grabbed first place from Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing. “We’ve just gained 25 miles!” shouts Spaniard Pablo Arrarte to his team mates on deck. With that, a giant wave of flushes into the cockpit like a playing card cascade. “It’s good sailing,” says a relaxed Bouwe Bekking. “On deck it’s fun, but downstairs it’s always horrible."..."
Night fix | Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 - Feb 15, 2015: Leg 4 to Auckland. Day 7. Yet another mechanical challenge onboard Dongfeng Race Team, when the halyard locking system broke in the middle of the night, preventing them from using their J1. JohnTheCrowd | Sailing News: VOR: Volvo Ocean Race updates The right direction | Volvo Ocean Race 2014-2015: "“New Zealand is down here,” he gestures, with a smile. “So we’ve actually been sailing away from it.” Huh? Onboard Reporter Stefan Coppers prods his boss. Surely that can’t be the correct choice? “We’re going in the right direction!” says Bouwe, emphatically. “The other guys kept going, and of course that’s a way shorter distance – but we think in the long run, about 7 or 8 days, that the northerly route will pay off.” Well, if it's true that fortune favours the brave, then the Dutch boat will certainly reap rewards. They were one of only two teams, alongside Team SCA, to tack north early toward Taiwan – and the early forecasts suggest that their decision could well pay...."
Open Game - | Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 - Feb 11, 2015: On MAPFRE, navigator Jean Luc Nélias is nervous. Bouwe Bekking is crossing his fingers on Brunel.
