Extreme Sailing Series LIVE from Cardiff, Louis Vuitton Cup finals

Live Cardiff: Day Three - Extreme Sailing Series by extremesailingseries LIVE Sunday August 25 at 11 am EDT (US)

Saturday the Extreme Sailing Series™ Act 6, Cardiff grudge match continued with an epic 10 races. There were hulls soaring, bows diving and water spraying off the River Taff as the eight Extreme 40s hurtled round Cardiff Bay at 14 knots in 18 knots of wind - the cheering Cardiff crowds getting the stadium spectacular they came for. Out on the course the big breeze certainly suited SAP Extreme Sailing Team, the finely tuned Danes recording two first and four second place finishes to see them rise from sixth to second at the end of the second day of the Act -- narrowly missing out on pole position to the experienced Alinghi who clinched the top spot with a win in the final race of the day. Two of Rugby's shining stars, British and Irish Lions captain Sam Warburton and Welsh national Alex Cuthbert also got stuck into the Extreme Sailing Series scrum, both players jumping aboard the invitational home boat Team Wales Land Rover, skippered by Welsh born Rio 2016 Olympic hopeful Dave Evans (source: http://extremesailingseries.com )

The ability to sail quickly upwind is shaping more and more as the key to this 34th America's Cup. The Kiwis yet again won the pre-start and the sprint to the first mark but were only 27s ahead after the first downwind leg. But it all changed on the ...

Men Overboard | Our Town | Chicago Reader: ".... Last summer Podmajersky made the biggest win of his sailing career, skippering his Mumm 30 sailboat, the Illusion, to victory in the Chicago Yacht Club's Race to Mackinac. The 333-mile race, first run in 1898, is one of sailing's most prestigious amateur contests and the longest annual freshwater race in the world; about 300 boats entered in four divisions last year. But now, as Podmajersky should be preparing to defend his title, the sailing world has turned against him. He's suing one of his crew members for more than a million dollars, and it's possible that as a result he will be banned from this year's race...."
