Close tough racing in first full week of Seattle Pacific Challenge:

The first full week of the Seattle Pacific Challenge has seen a huge range of difficult conditions in the latest stage of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. Right from the start just over a week ago the fleet has engaged in close match racing in a hard fought battle from China, past South Korea and Japan, before heading out into the remote North Pacific. A combination of strong currents, pushing the amateur crew against storm force winds towards Seattle, on the US West Coast, churned up steep waves which battered the sturdy 70-foot ocean racing yachts. Published March 30, 2016

Volvo Ocean Race Fleet Fights Agulhas Current (videos)

Inside Track - Leg 2, Episode 2 | Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15: As the fleet fights the Agulhas current, life gets tough onboard, and up the rig, as we hear from Stacey Jackson of Team SCA

On The Edge | Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15
One day into Leg 2 and the boats can still see each other. The fast speeds would make any of us be cautious, but for these sailors, it only makes them compete more fiercely, if that's even possible.

And they're off! The fleet has left Cape Town on Leg 2 to Abu Dhabi. A maelstrom of a start, some unexpected conditions, and a check-in with the new guy in the fleet, Rob Greenhalgh.
