Day 4 RC44 Calero Marinas Cup - Second consecutive RC44 title for Team CEEREF

RC44ClassAssociation video above published Nov 26, 2017: Despite performing dances for the wind gods, the wind failed to materialise for a second consecutive day at the RC44 Calero Marinas Cup in the normally windy Canary Islands. With no racing on the final day, John Bassadone’s Peninsula Petroleum claimed this, the last event of the season. In turn this left Igor Lah’s Team CEEREF to win her second consecutive RC44 Championship.

Bassadone congratulated his crew, including his long term Italian tactician Vasco Vascotto, and also local sailor Alfredo Morales who stood in for him on Thursday’s opening day and for race one of day two. On that second day they had won both races, results which ultimately secured victory for the Gibraltar-based team at the RC44 Calero Marinas Cup.

Day 1 RC44 Calero Marinas Cup - Trickiest of days opens racing in Lanzarote

RC44 Class Association video above published Nov 23, 2017: Consistency was not easy on day one of race, with big Atlantic waves remaining as the wind dropped. Nonetheless it remains close and after three races just six points separates first from eighth.  Chris Bake and team Aqua had a great day on water and currently leading but with the Team Ceeref in second, and Team Nika third, Team Aqua will need to stay focused.

RC44 Marstrand World Championship 2017 Aug 10-13 (video)

Day 4 RC44 Marstrand World Championship - Battleship Nika sweeps to victory

Video above published Aug 13, 2017: Team Nika have won the RC44 Marstrand World Championship after a dominant performance across the four days of competition. The final day delivered the strongest wind of the week, with the north-westerly breeze blowing at 15 knots and with a big, lumpy seaway. Vladimir Prosikhin may not have won any races today but he steered Nika to a comfortable victory overall, earning back the trophy he last raised in 2015.

The final race was a close battle for second and third. Team Ceeref, the 2016 World Champion, crossed in second place behind Artemis Racing. This was sufficient to secure second overall for Igor Lah from Slovenia. Behind him, Bronenosec's photo-finish ahead of Peninsula Petroleum was sufficient to put two Russian teams on equal points. On tie-break, Bronenosec beat Katusha for third place overall.

The RC44 Marstrand World Championship is the third event of the 2017 RC44 Championship Tour, which pits the world's top businessmen and the best sailors in the industry compete in high-performance one-design 44-foot carbon racing yachts.

Day 3 RC44 Marstrand World Championship - Nika Unstoppable

Video above published Aug 13, 2017: A few boats had a good go at the front of the fleet on day three of the RC44 Marstrand World Championship, but none could match the consistency of Team Nika. Vladimir Prosikhin took the winner's gun in the first race of the day, sailed in 10 knots and lumpy seas. When the rain fell, it made little difference to his fortunes, following up with a second and fourth place.​ The Russian team has impressively taken a race win every day of the World Championship so far, putting them 15 points ahead. Nika's closest rivals struggled, opening up a big points gap to second place, now held by Bronenosec with Ceeref on equal points.

Day 2 RC44 Marstrand World Championship - Bronenosec's young guns hit their mark

Aug 11, 2017: Bronenosec Sailing showed some serious interest in the title after putting in some good scores on day two of the RC44 Marstrand World Championship. Vladimir Liubomirov steered the blue boat to victory in the first race of the day, sailed in about 8 to 10 knots of westerly wind. A sixth in the next race was not so special but Bronenosec surged into the lead of the third race of the day, only to let it slip to Artemis Racing on the final run to the finish.

Video above published Aug 10, 2017: Vladimir Prosikhin has steered Team Nika into the lead of the RC44 Marstrand World Championship after a solid opening day in Sweden. The Russian crew notched up scores of 2,6,1 in the nine-boat fleet to hold a two-point advantage over defending World Champion, Team Ceeref from Slovenia.

DAY 47 | Jules Verne: "Spindrift 2 will finish Friday afternoon - "These are the last miles and moments at sea for the crew of Spindrift 2. Overnight from Wednesday to Thursday was spent at the height of the storm, it was also one of the most beautiful spectacles of their voyage around the world. Dona Bertarelli, Yann Guichard and their teammates will again face winds of over 30 knots and big seas, with a 5-6 meters swell, on their last night at sea tonight. It is their final test before they close the circle at Ushant. IDEC SPORT SAILING | BACK IN BREST ON FRIDAY: "IDEC SPORT has begun the final stretch. Early this afternoon, Francis Joyon and his men had around 700 miles to sail. DAY 45 | Jules Verne: "There are still 1,700 miles left to for the trimaran, whose arrival in Brittany remains scheduled for Friday. Since this morning, Spindrift 2 has not dropped below an average speed of 30-32 knots, which conjures up an image of lovely gliding on an ever-friendly ocean road. Indeed, the crew and particularly the helmsmen, are taking advantage of what is an awesome feeling and some really uplifting hours for these lovers of multihulls. Especially as the route is beautiful, straight and on the way home. But the atmosphere will change. The imposing depression coming from the American coast is catching the black and gold trimaran. In a few hours, the cold front will make conditions a lot tougher."

IDEC SPORT SAILING | 72 HOURS UNDER PRESSURE: "With 1900 miles to go to the finishing line between Ushant and The Lizard that “we should be crossing some time on Friday”, the six sailors on IDEC SPORT will be facing some tough conditions. Spindrift 2 Day 31 | Jules Verne: "14:50 GMT YANN GUICHARD, AFTER CAPE HORN - My favourite memory will be of passing Cape Horn in the sun, with 15 knots of wind and a flat sea: we had time to enjoy it because we skirted the coast...Honestly, it was just fantastic. Dona spoke with the lighthouse keeper, it was really a nice moment: everyone was awake and on deck. This marks one month of adventure that is going well." My goal since leaving Ushant was to arrive at Cape Horn within the time of Banque Populaire V: that's done, now it's the weather that will decide. But we’ve already had an excellent voyage; I’m delighted with my crew and the atmosphere on board, it's really great. It’s a once in a lifetime experience to see the rock at the end of the world after 30 days of shared enjoyment at sea. We were surrounded by birds all the way across the Indian and Pacific Oceans. We saw albatrosses but not the big swell. Other than that, I have continuous stress about looking after things, because I know that if we finish, we will be in record time. It is really the management of men and the machine that preoccupies me every day; it’s tiring, sometimes I’m almost worn out, but it’s also enjoyable. IDEC SPORT SAILING | JOYON HOPING TO GET TO THE HORN IN SEVEN DAYS: "16 December 2015 - IDEC SPORT is once again on the attack ... The big question today is knowing at what point to begin a series of gybes in order to get across a transition zone between an area of high pressure and a low. This decision will affect a lot of things, but Francis Joyon hopes to be back up with the pace of Banque Populaire V by Cape Horn. This would mean rounding the infamous cape by Tuesday. On the other side of the world aboard IDEC SPORT on Wednesday 16th December on this 25th day at sea, the crew is continuing to make headway towards the NE. “We’re going to continue for a little while like that,” explained Francis Joyon. “We’re currently getting around the north of an area of low pressure that is stretching out a bit with some light stuff. We’re still in the WNW’ly air stream for the moment, but soon we will have to weave in and out. We’re going to have to carry out a series of gybes to get around the low and then wait for the moment, when we can dive south to an area of high pressure.”..."
